U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reports that American forces carried out targeted precision strikes, on air defense radar sites and mobile rocket installations located on Irans coast with the aim of safeguarding international maritime corridors. In response Iranian state media said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched drones and missiles at defense outposts. Meanwhile foreign ministry officials, in Tehran said that the strikes were an exercise of self‑defense.
The United Nations Secretary-General expressed grave concern over the sharp escalation and the rising toll on civilians. UN spokespersons urged both Washington and Tehran to return to diplomatic channels, warning that continued military friction risks broader regional economic disruption and instability across vital energy transit routes. Concurrently, regional foreign ministers in Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia issued joint calls emphasizing the need for restrained actions and the protection of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
