
An Indian person who lives outside of India and comes from the state of Kerala has passed away after a gas cylinder exploded in Dubai the Consulate General of India in Dubai has said. The event has led to messages of sympathy from officials while local police are still looking into why the explosion happened.
As per the Indian Consulate the person who died was, from Kerala. Was living in the UAE. Officials said the consulate is talking to the family of the person who died and is working with Dubai officials to help with the needed steps, including bringing the body to India.
The explosion reportedly occurred at a residential property in Dubai, where emergency services responded swiftly to contain the situation and assist those affected. Authorities have not yet released details on what triggered the gas cylinder blast or whether additional people were injured in the incident.
Dubai Civil Defence and other emergency agencies secured the area following the explosion and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have urged the public to await the findings of the inquiry and avoid speculation until the investigation is complete.
The Indian diplomatic mission expressed its sympathies to the victim’s family and reaffirmed its commitment to providing consular assistance during the difficult period. The mission also said it remains in close coordination with local authorities to ensure all legal and administrative formalities are completed as quickly as possible.
Gas-related incidents are relatively uncommon in the UAE, where strict safety regulations govern the storage, handling and use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Nevertheless, authorities regularly remind residents and businesses to follow approved safety procedures, conduct routine inspections of gas installations and immediately report any suspected leaks to emergency services.
The death has drawn attention within the Indian expatriate community, one of the largest foreign populations in the UAE. As the investigation continues, officials are expected to release further information once the cause of the explosion has been established.
